The Wooden Church of the Holy Heart of Jesus in Daunoriai

The church of the Holy Heart of Jesus is located in Daunoriai village, Utena district, 8.5 km east of Tauragnai town. The rectangular wooden church (16.5×10.5 m) was built in 1934, characterised with folk architectural shapes and one tower. There are three altars and a harmonium. The timeline of the church: in 1925 Justinas Vitkauskas, a farmer of Daunoriai village, donated 39.3 ha to the future prayer house. 1926 marked the construction of the church. 1933-1934 — the construction of the wooden church that can be seen today. The matters of the construction were organised by the rector Titas Vinkšnelis (1904-1982; an exile in 1949-1956). He also built the parsonage.
