Candle making

The development of bee-keeping eventually resulted in candle production.

Since the 14th c. candles were made using a hoop. A bowl of melted wax used to be put on a pot with hot potatoes or beets (“in order to keep it melted”). People would tie a wick on the hoop, pour wax down the sides of the wick and repeat the procedure once one “circle” of candles was finished.
