Heraldry. Antalieptė has never had a historical coat of arms, thus after a discussion of ideas for a new coat of arms at the Heraldry Commission under the President of the Republic of Lithuania, it was decided to use a footbridge (as the origin of the name of the town) with a cross. A bridge or a footbridge symbolises a union and connection between two individual parts. Many nations use an image of a bridge connecting the heavens and the earth. While a cross is one of the oldest symbols in both religion and art. During the times of Christianity a cross — or a crucifix — acquired a significant meaning, becoming not only a symbol of suffering, but also the general symbol of the victory of Christ’s teachings — Christianity. In the coat of arms of Antalieptė it symbolises the significant works of various monk orders that lived and worked here. The blue colour of the shield symbolises faithfulness, strength and honesty. The blue background of the coat of arms features a silver footbridge and a golden cross above.
